Downloaded lessons, reading position, saved words, bookmarks and preferences stay on your device. They are not uploaded to our lesson server. An online account is used only for the paid story library.
Reading on your device
The app stores downloaded lessons, reading position, saved words, preferences and study exports locally. If you choose to copy, export or share study data, the destination you choose receives it. Removing the app may erase local downloads and study data; deleting an online account does not erase those local files.
Online account and purchases
Free stories and grammar can be read and downloaded without an account. To buy, restore or download paid stories, the app uses Sign in with Apple. For signed-in users, our server stores Apple's account identifier, an account token used to match purchases, an encrypted Apple authorization refresh token, hashed session tokens, and the public key and counters used for device verification. We also retain Apple transaction identifiers and entitlement status needed to grant or restore paid access.
Apple handles payment; we do not receive your payment-card details. The app does not ask Apple to share your name or email address.
Online lesson requests
Our service and Cloudflare process your IP address and request details to deliver lessons and limit abuse. Our account database and access log do not retain raw IP addresses. Under the current free-plan settings, Cloudflare security analytics may retain sampled request records, including source IP, request status and the path of an online lesson you access, for up to 31 days.
The iOS app has no advertising or developer analytics SDK, and we do not sell personal data. Apple processes sign-in and purchases under its own terms. Opening an external source-credit or dictionary link leaves the app and is subject to that destination's practices.
Retention and account deletion
Account and purchase-binding records remain while your online account is active. Sign-in challenges and sessions expire, although expired records may remain until cleanup. Use Delete account in app Settings to remove live server sessions, the Apple authorization token, device-key binding and purchase-binding record. We also attempt to revoke Apple authorization.
Operational backups may retain earlier copies until their rotation and are restricted to recovery use. Apple may keep purchase records under its own policies. Local study data remains on your device after online account deletion.
Crow Tech websites
This policy covers Crow Chinese Reader and its lesson service. The crow.sg website uses website analytics, including Google Analytics, as described in our website privacy policy. Visiting this page does not upload your local reading data.
